Vice Mayor Gee thanked Kip Harkness and Bill Ekern as well as the community for participating in the process and for making the effort. He believes tonight is the night of a decision. He thanked all those involved and he said that the Council owes them a decision this evening. Mayor Aguirre thanked all those present for their efforts and she acknowledged this has taken too long but she finds Redwood City eclectic and there is space and room for everybody and for variety. In her opinion, the charm comes from the variety. She said that there is nothing left but infill and if so is the City going to require an EIR for every project. She believes it is time to move on and make a decision. M/S Gee/Ira to Certify the Environmental Impact Report. Motion carried 7-0 by electronic vote. M/S Ira/ Bain to approve the Planned Development Permit. One Council Member said she had hoped for more of a solution between the community and the developer. She said that honestly seven years to get this approved is too long and she had hoped for more movement and agreement. She thought she had signed up for something that builds community and not angers community. Vice Mayor Gee said that this is a process and Council is here to try and enable it. Motion carried 7-0 by electronic vote. M/S Ira/Seybert to approve the Vesting Tentative Map. Motion carried 7-0 by electronic vote. 9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended Mayor Aguirre reported on attending a ribbon cutting ceremony at PDI Dreamworks for expanding its facilities and she was presented with a book on Madagascar III. She will be donating the book to the North Fair Oaks Library. Council Member Bain attended a meeting a group titled "Matching Cities" and this time the presentation was on eco districts and making our neighborhoods more sustainable. Mayor Aguirre offered Council Member Bain the opportunity to share the material at a future Council meeting. B. City Council Committee Reports C. City Manager (Oral) Update — thanked Bill, PACT and the Fall Clean day, General Plan award won the State Award Dr. Bell thanked Mr. Ekern and Mr. Harkness for their work on the Finger Avenue issue. He also announced that Partnership Academy for Community Teamwork (PACT) will start this Wednesday. Furthermore, he announced that the Fall Clean-Up is coming up on Saturday.
