She spoke in favor of continuing to take
a strong stance against it as the land is not suitable for housing and that we have a
great General Plan. She agreed with Council Member Pierce's prior comments about
the voters of Redwood City, but still she believes there is misleading information.
Shaunn Cartwright, representing Occupy San Jose, thanked Council for doing the right
thing three times and allowing her to speak again. She was very happy people stayed
until the end of the meeting. He expressed thanks to all the groups that have fought
against this, which included Occupy Redwood City, Occupy San Jose, Redwood City
Neighbors United, and Menlo Park City Council.
Daniel Ponti, a longtime resident and representing Redwood City Neighbors United,
said one of their one goals was the withdrawal of the application. He thanked the Ad
Hoc Committee, and opined the correct decision was made, and the proposal was
controversial and divisive and was about our values. He also expressed concerns on
various types of land use in terms of intertidal zones, heavy Industry, compatibility, and
housing goals in regards to the general plan.
Carolyn Chaney expressed pride and thanks for the Styrofoam ban and spoke in favor
of banning single-use plastic bags.
