5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Association of Bay Area Governments Public-Private Partnership <br /> Video of the Grand Boulevard Initiative - Jeffrey Gee, Vice Mayor <br /> An award winning video was shown exemplifying the efforts from multiple jurisdictions to <br /> make EI Camino an historical landmark through the Peninsula. Vice Mayor Gee <br /> complimented Council Mayor Pierce on her diligent work over the years towards this <br /> end. Mayor Aguirre thanked Council member Pierce for representing Redwood City so <br /> well. <br /> B. Proclamation: Parks Make Life Better - Recipient Chris Beth, Director of <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br /> Mayor Aguirre declared July as Parks Make Life Better month. She acknowledged Mr. <br /> Beth as well and the members of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br /> Commission. Mr. Beth, the recipient, thanked the City Council, City Manager Bell and <br /> the community for the support and encouragement and for making our community <br /> better. He recognized finro Commissioners Pat Black and Robert Slusser. Mayor <br /> Aguirre, thanked Mr. Beth for his leadership. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Gary Petrini, third generation peninsula resident, said he has been involved in the <br /> historic cemetery and he expressed his happiness and love for this City. He opined it is <br /> a civic duty to be active and spoke in support of City leadership. He finished with "Si se <br /> Puede" (yes you can!). <br /> Clem Molony, Secretary of the Seaport Industrial Association, said the interchange at <br /> Highway 101 and Woodside Road has been a priority for them for over a decade <br /> because, especially in evening, it is a very difficult intersection. He spoke in favor of <br /> strong leadership to work on fixing and modernizing the intersection, and commented <br /> that in their work with the Chamber of Commerce, he believes there are 50 letters of <br /> support on this matter. <br /> M/S Seybert/Bain to approve the Consent Calendar except for items 6.1 J and 6.1 K. <br /> Motion carried 6-0 with Council Member Ira absent. <br /> One Council Member made comments about the return of the Zoppe Family Circus and <br /> how exciting that is. He also addressed parking impacts due to closing of that parking <br /> lot and he knows staff will communicate the closure of that parking with ample notice. <br /> Mayor Aguirre expressed her thanks to the Peninsula Celebration Association for <br /> organizing the 74th Annual 4t" of July Parade. She announced a new route and thanked <br /> the departments involved for all the hard work and the staff investment.
