11/05/2012 <br /> EXHIBIT A <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) COORDINATOR <br /> DEFINITION <br /> Under general direction, develops, enhances, maintains and supports ongoing <br /> technology functions for the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) and GIS- <br /> related database systems; works with user departments and/or interdepartmental <br /> project teams to identify, develop, and maintain new and existing GIS projects and <br /> systems. <br /> DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> This is a journey level position requiring substantial prior paraprofessional GIS work <br /> experience. Essential duties of this class involve the performance of complex and <br /> technical GIS work independently with only occasional instruction. Appointment to this <br /> class requires that the employee be perForming the full range of duties in data modeling, <br /> geo-coding, spatial analysis, computer application design, web based mapping, <br /> database development, GIS layer maintenance, providing of GIS training, and project <br /> coordination, and meet the qualification standards for the class. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> Receives general supervision from a Senior Planner or other planning management <br /> position; may exercise functional and/or technical supervision over lower level <br /> personnel assigned to GIS activities and projects. <br /> EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are <br /> not limited to, the following: <br /> Plan, develop, and implement a computerized mapping system which allows for the <br /> integration of the entire City's geographically referenced data. <br /> Develop and maintain the City's Intranet and Internet GIS Mapping applications in <br /> coordination with the City's webmaster (e.g. GIS3, Public GIS). <br /> Maintain the geographical data and data structure of the Police Department's RIMS <br /> mapping and GPS system. <br /> Process and update the monthly County Assessor parcel data and maintain the City's <br /> address database (MAD). <br /> ATTY/RE50.2799/ESTABLISH OF THE GIS COORDINATOR C1A551FICATION AND RE50.#15225 <br /> AMEND THE CITY'S CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY MO#903 <br /> REV:10-19-12 PT <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br />
