B. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> November 19, 2012 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Resolution Waiving Notice of the County of San Mateo's Lease of Real Property <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt a Resolution waiving notice of the County of San Mateo's Lease of Real Property. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On November 2, 2012, San Mateo County advised the City of its intent to lease office <br /> space at 555 Marshall Street. The lease will be presented to the Board of Supervisors <br /> on November 20, 2012. Government Code Section 25351 requires that whenever the <br /> board of supervisors of a county decides to enter into a lease of an existing building <br /> within the incorporated territory of a city, the board shall notify in writing, at least 60 <br /> days prior to entering into a lease, the city clerk of the city where the building is to be <br /> leased. Pursuant to Government Code Section 25351, the City can, by resolution, <br /> agree to waive the required 60-day notice. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The County has requested the City Council adopt a resolution waiving the 60-day <br /> noticing requirement. The County intends to lease space at 555 Marshall Street and in <br /> turn enable the San Mateo Credit Union to move from their current headquarters into <br /> this building while their property is redeveloped. <br /> By adopting the attached resolution, the City Council enables the County to move <br /> forward with the lease without delay and, consequently, enables the Credit Union to <br /> continue its pursuit of the redevelopment of its headquarters' property. The <br /> redevelopment of this site is consistent with the Downtown Precise Plan and potentially <br /> a significant housing and office development. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> If the City Council chooses to not adopt the resolution, then a 60-day public notice <br /> requirement would be in effect. Such action likely delays the redevelopment of the <br /> Credit Union property. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> There is no fiscal impact directly connected to this action. <br />
