i <br /> September 1974 <br /> SENIOR PARK CkZAFTWORKER <br /> �EFINITION <br /> Under general supervision to perform skilled and semi-skilled <br /> installation, repair and maintenance work on park systems and <br /> facilities ; and to do related work as required. <br /> DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS <br /> This is a craft classification in the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation. Under the supervision of a Park Foreman, an employee <br /> in this class performs the more skilled installation, repair and <br /> maintenance work c�r, irrigation systems, buildings, small struc- <br /> tures, pool and playground equipment. This work involves a <br /> variety of craft skills, specifically those of a plumber, elec- <br /> trician, carpenter, painter, welder and mason, except that a skill <br /> rPquired in any one craft is less than that required of a journey- <br /> man in that craft. A Senior Park Craftworker may act in a lead <br /> ca�acity over field warkers . <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (Illustrative Only) <br /> Inspects, maintains, repairs and installs irrigation systems and <br /> pool and playground equipment ; performs general maintenance and <br /> repair of departmental buildings and small structures ; plumbing <br /> work involves the installation and removal of pipes, valves, fit- <br /> tings, pumps, and control devices. Electrical work involves <br /> adjusting control devices , performing minor repairs and replacement <br /> of lighting fixtures, wiring, outlets, control equipment, and <br /> miscellaneous appliances . Carpentry work involves altering, repair-- <br /> ing and maintaining wood fixtur�es, furniture and other interior and <br /> exterior wood features of Park facilities . Painting involves pre- <br /> paring different surfaces by sanding, scraping or using paint <br /> remover; blending and matching colors ; applying various protective <br /> or decorative finishes to the surface of Park facilities and <br /> systems ; and cleaning brushes, tools and other equipment. Welding <br /> involves repairing, removing and installing a variety of playgroun;� <br /> and facility equipment by the use of welding equipment. Masonry <br /> involves tiling, bricklaying and cement work. <br /> REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br /> Good knowledge of standard methods, materials, and equipment used <br /> in the building trac�es, particularly carpentry, plumbing, painting, <br /> welding, electrical and mason work; ability to perform a wide <br /> variety of maintenance and repair work on Park facilities and <br /> systems; ability to instruct others in proper work methods and to <br /> supervise their work; ability to read and interpret construction <br /> I <br />
