AGREEMENT <br />It is understood that this contract is limited to the monitoring of an asbestos abatement <br />project to be conducted at MSC Warehouse located at 1400 Broadway, Redwood City, <br />California. ProTech's proposes to provide asbestos-related consulting services as fol1ows: <br />1. Pre-job meeting <br />2. Pre-abatement monitoring and containment inspections. <br />3. On site project monitoring and area PCM air monitoring/analysis during abatement. <br />4. Post abatement visual inspections and final air monitoring. <br />5. Project close-out report. <br /> PROPOSED SERVICES <br />ProTech proposes to provide labor, materials, and services as follows: <br />SECTION 1 . PRE.JOB ACTIVITIES: <br />1.1 Pre-Construction Conference: <br />Prior to construction, ProTech wilJ meet with the Owner, asbestos abatement contractor and <br />others as needed to discuss project details, review pre-job submittal and work plans, and to <br />confirm scheduling and project phasing. <br />SECTION 2. PRE-ABATEMENT SERVICES: <br />2.1 BackgroundlPre-Abatement Air Monitoring <br />Pre-abatement air monitoring wiU be conducted to establish baseline airborne fibrous dust <br />levels in and around the asbestos abatement work area. Samples will be taken unifonnly <br />over the entire work area to assure effective representation. Results of these samples may <br />be used to help anticipate proper respiratory protection, to provide comparative data for area <br />air monitoring, and to help establish final air clearance criteria. Sample analysis will be <br />conducted by Phase Contrast Microscopy, NIOSH method 7400. <br />2.2 Inspection of Work Area Prior To Abatement <br />An inspection of the work areas will be conducted prior to the commencement of asbestos <br />abatement activities. The inspection will be conducted with the contractor's competent <br />person to verify that the work area has been properly prepared. The inspection includes but <br />is not necessarily limited to the structural integrity of the enclosure system, function and <br />operation of engineering controls, posting of warning signs. <br />SECTION 3 . ABATEMENT MONITORING: <br />3.1 Project Area Air Monitoring <br />ProTech will conduct full-shift area air monitoring during asbestos abatement to detect <br />fauUs in the work area isolation and/or engineering controls such as: <br /> . Contamination outside of the asbestos work area. <br /> . Failure of fj Itrati on to provide adequate negative pressure. <br /> . Contamination of the extetior of the building with airborne asbestos fibers. <br />The purpose of air samples collected outside but immediately adjacent to the asbestos <br />abatement work area will be to detect elevated leve1s of fibrous dust outside of the asbestos <br />Proposal; Asbesws Abatement Monitorin~ Prop No. t5B-O3gk <br />City ofRWC f MSC Warehouse Page 2 <br />
