7.B. - Page 114
Redwood City Chapter 4.Environmental Impact Analysis
Would the project:
a. Have a substantial adverse effect, either directly or through habitat modifications, on any
species identified as a candidate, sensitive,or special-status species in local or regional plans,
policies,or regulations,or by the California Department of Fish and Game?
No New Impact. As described in the 2007 FEIR(Appendix A,page 7),existing wildlife on the project
site is limited to common animal species typically found in urban environments such as small
mammals, birds, and insects that have adapted to the habitats of highly developed areas. No
sensitive wildlife species or their habitats occur on the project site. The trees and other vegetation
on the project site are ornamental. Further, there are no rare, endangered,or sensitive species
located on the project site. The conditions of the project area have not significantly changed since
the 2007 analysis was conducted. Therefore, the proposed modifications are not anticipated to have
a new impact on any special-status species.
b. Have a substantial adverse effect on any riparian habitat or other sensitive natural community
identified in local or regional plans, policies,or regulations,or by the California Department of
Fish and Game?
No New Impact. The project site and the immediate surrounding area are composed entirely of
commercial and residential development, and the conditions of the project area have not
significantly changed since the 2007 analysis was conducted. Furthermore,as discussed above
under item 4.11.a,no sensitive natural community is located within or in the vicinity of the project
site. Therefore,no new impact on riparian habitat or other sensitive natural communities would
occur as a result of the proposed modifications.
c. Have a substantial adverse effect on federally protected wetlands as defined by Section 404 of
the Clean WaterAct(including, but not limited to,marsh, vernal pool, coastal etc.)through
direct removal, filling, hydrological interruption, or other means?
No New Impact. There are no federally protected wetlands or other jurisdictional waters in the
vicinity of the proposed modifications that could be affected by the proposed modifications. No new
impact would occur.
d. Interfere substantially with the movement of any native resident or migratory fish or wildlife
species or with established native resident or migratory wildlife corridors,or impede the use of
native wildlife nursery sites?
No New Impact. There are no wetlands or running waters within the vicinity of the proposed
modifications. The proposed modifications would not affect fish movement. The proposed
modifications are not within an established wildlife corridor and do not involve the construction of
extensive facilities or fences that could impede wildlife movement. The proposed modifications
would not interfere with the movement of any native resident or migratory wildlife species or with
established native resident or migratory wildlife corridors, and would not impede the use of native
wildlife nursery sites. No new impact would occur.
e. Conflict with any local policies or ordinances protecting biological resources, such as a tree
preservation policy or ordinance?
No New Impact. The proposed modifications would remove some ornamental landscaping,
including a tree located on the southwest portion of the landscaping. This tree is an ornamental tree,
and is not protected by the Redwood City Tree Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 35) or any other
Addendum No.2 to the Environmental Impact Report for 4 69 September 2012
the Redwood City Costco Wholesale Project ICF 00154.12
