6.2.B. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> January 14, 2013 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance —2011-2012 Spot Repair and Overlay Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Accept, by motion, the 2011-2012 Spot Repair and Overlay Project, and authorize the <br /> release of bonds and the retention according to city procedures. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The 2011-2012 Spot Repair and Overlay Project is part of the City's Roadway <br /> Management System (RMS) Program, which performs on-going pavement repair and <br /> replacement. This project resurfaced Kentfield Avenue and Main Street and added <br /> speed humps to Vera Avenue. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> On June 25, 2012, Council awarded the construction contract for the 2011-2012 Spot <br /> Repair and Overlay Project to O'Grady Paving, Inc. of Mountain View. The project was <br /> awarded for a base bid of $867,564. Construction began in September, 2012 and <br /> concluded in November, 2012. The project is successfully completed in accordance <br /> with the plans and specifications. Two change orders totaling ($77,380.61) were <br /> issued. The final contract amount is $790,183.39, which is approximately 8.9% less <br /> than the contract amount initially awarded. Change orders resulted from quantity <br /> adjustments. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of bonds and <br /> retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and <br /> public contracting code. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Sufficient funding for the work of this project was previously approved and appropriated <br /> as Transportation Fund- Street Pavement Management Programs. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> N/A <br />
