Prohib�tions <br /> The use of pesticides and quick release fertilizers sha{I be minimized, anc! the prineiples of <br /> integrated pest managemer�t (IPM) followed: <br /> �. Employ non-chemical controls (biological, physical and c€�IturaE controls) before using <br /> cherr-�icals to �reat a pest problem. <br /> 2. Prune plants properly and at the appropriat� tim� of year. <br /> 3. Provide adequate irrigation for landseape plants. Do not over water. <br /> 4. L.imit fertilizer use ur�less soil testing indicates a defici�ncy. Sfow-releas� or organic <br /> fertiiizer is preferable. Check with m�nicipality for specific requiremer�ts. <br /> 5. Pest control sho€�Id avoid harming nor�-target arganisms, or negati�ely affec#ing air and <br /> water quality ar�d public health. Spray only where the infestafion exists. Fo!!ow the <br /> manufacturer's ir�structions far mixing and applying materials. <br /> 8. On1y licensed, trair�ed pesticide applicators shall appiy pesticides. <br /> 9. App[y pesticides at the apprapriate time ta maximize their effect�ver�ess ar�d minimize <br /> the likelihood of discharging pesticides into runoff. With the except�on of pre-emerger�t <br /> pesticides, avoid application if rain is expected. <br /> 1 q. Ur�wanted/unused pesticides shall be disposed as hazardous waste. <br /> Standing water shall not rerr�ain in ths treatment measures far more than five days, to prevent <br /> mosquito generation. Should any mosquito issues arise, contact the San Mateo County Mosquita <br /> Abatement District (SMCMAD), as needed for assistance. Mosquito larvicicles shall be appfied <br /> only when absolutefy necessary, as indicated by the SMCMAD, and then only by a licensed <br /> professional or cantractor.
