Since its foundina it llas been in coi�stant use as a harbor az�d rnari�a accessible to, anc�used by, the gene�al public. Maz�y local and Bay Az-ea residents have Iasting fond memories of childhood visits to the l�arbox and rnarina. �t has housed restaurants, a sl�ipyard, a boat �aui�ch ramp, small b�sinesses, a�zd a safe ai�d tight-Irnit liveaboard comrr�unity af boa�ers and RV-dwellers, sorr�e of whorr�have lived at Pet�'s for decades. This housing is affardable and has enabled veterans, single parents, small families, those s�arting busi��esses, and those of moc�erate means to achieve housing i�� Redwood City in a special-use case�hat is irreplaeeable if the Resolution passes. Although always in pi°ivate ow��ers�ip by Petez Uccelli, then Paula Uccelli u�on his death in 2005, the 280 slips have aIways been subject to readily-availat�Ie lease by i�e�nbers of the gencral public with seaworthy vessels. "�ave I'ete's Harbor" In the �ate 1970s and early 1980s, residents of Redwood Cily ai�the other side of T�ighway 101 aoir�ed Pete and the residei�ts of Pete's Harbor ii� a drive to "Save Pete's kiarbar" from reelama�ion by the California State Lands Coinmissioi� ("SLC"}. Tl�e SLC ini�zatecl ar� actia�� to reelaiin the lai�d, all�gii�g tl�at Pete did not have full c�ear title. In � successful public carzapaign with "Save Pete's Harbor" bumper stickers being a memory of ir�ai�y local residents, the Califorr�ia State Legislah�re stepped in with enler�ency I983 le�isiation, deeding the land to Pete Uceelli and providing for a lease of�l�e outer harbor, which re�nains the property of!he SLC in trust for the�eople af Californ�a. "TY�e area along Redwood Creek is under the jurisdiction of Redwood City ai�d in inai�y instances the Army Corps of Engi�leers.
