6.1.G. - Page 1
RE PO RT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the Cit Mana er
February 11, 2013
SUBJECT
Amendment Number 1 to Agreement with Primus Staffing Solutions, Inc. for Short Term
Staffing in Building Division
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, approve and authorize execution of Amendment Number 1 with Primus
Staffing Solutions, Inc. for Short Term Staffing in Building Division.
BACKGROUND
On August 27, 2012, the City executed an agreement with Primus Staffing Solutions,
Inc., in the amount of $55,000 to provide short term staffing within the Building Division
in response to upcoming retirements and resignations. The term of this agreement was
one year.
ANALYSIS
The initial temporary staffing arrangement was planned for three to six months to allow
time to evaluate and implement reorganization opportunities within the Building Division.
During this first six months, additional staffing changes created further reorganization
opportunities and consequently extended its implementation timeframe.
The Department is proceeding with the first phase of staff recruitment and
reorganization; however, there remains a need for a short term staff supervisor for up to
an additional six months to fully implement the division's reorganization.
This proposed amendment will increase the previously approved not-to-exceed budget
authorization from $55,000 to $110,000 to provide the additional temporary staffing to
permit full implementation of permanent staff recruitment and selection.
ALTERNATIVES
Do not authorize execution of Amendment Number 1 to Primus Staffing Solutions, Inc.
Agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost for temporary staffing will be funded from salary savings from existing and
future staff vacancies.
