6.1.B. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> February 25, 2013 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Dates for City Council Consideration of the Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Budget <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve, by motion, the dates for City Council action on the budget. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Sections 51 and 51.5 of the Redwood City Charter require that the City Council <br /> establish the date of the budget presentation by the City Manager, and, by resolution, <br /> the date for budget public hearing and budget adoption. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> A resolution setting the public hearing and the date for the budget adoption will be <br /> submitted prior to the budget being submitted to Council. The purpose of the action <br /> before you at tonight's meeting is to formalize your approval of the following dates upon <br /> which budget related actions will occur: <br /> Budget Sent to Council: Thursday, May 23, 2013 <br /> City Council Budget: Study Session #1 Monday, June 3, 2013 <br /> Study Session #2 (if needed) Monday, June 10, 2013 <br /> Budget Adoption and Public Hearing Monday, June 24, 2013 <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Although the City Charter requires that the Council, by motion, establish a date upon <br /> which the "...City Manager shall submit to the Council a proposed budget...," it is <br /> nonetheless the Council's prerogative to select the date that they believe is most <br /> appropriate. Accordingly, the dates provided in this report are those dates <br /> recommended by the City Manager and may be changed at Council's discretion. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> There is no fiscal impact associated with approving the dates for budget related action. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> This is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA guidelines. <br /> � <br /> � �^-- <br /> BRIAN PONTY <br /> DIRECTOR OF FINANCE <br />
