Introduction '
The StormTrapQ+7 Underground Stormwater Detention System is one of the easiest systems to inspect and`
maintain because of the open design of the stormwater chambers. Afl of the areas of the system that are
used to detain and store stormwater are completely accessible. StormTrapt9 does not recommend
utilizing stones around the stormwater detention system for stormwater storage.
Regular inspections are recommended to assure that the system is functioning as it was designed.
Please call your StormTrapRepresentative if you have quesGons in regards to the inspection and
maintenance of the StormTrapsystem. The StormTrapRepresentative for your area can be found
under the"ContacY'tab af the StormTrapwebsite(www.StormTra.com), or 1-87T-867-6872 and
press"Q"for an Administrative Assistant. '
2. Qry Detention Systems
The StormTrapSystem is used to collect stormwater and detain it for a period of time. The release rate
is determined by local building and environmental codes. The system is deslgned ta reduce downstream
flooding after a starmwater event. This is the same concept that is used to design above ground
stormwater detention ponds. Underground detention is utilized in place of detentian ponds to alfow for
additionaf development such as parking lots, public parks, highways, buildings, etc.
3.Wet Detention(Water Quality)Systems •
Same of the StormTrapSystems are designed to have a permanent poo!of water in the system. This
pool of water is designed to remove and collect some of the srnall solid particles from the stormwater.
These pools shall be cleaned as needed, but at least annually,to ensure they meet their intended design.
4. Inspection Schedules for Municipalities
The StormTrapl Storrnwater Detentbn System should be inspected whenever the upstream and
downstream catch basins and stormwater pipes of the stormwater collection system are inspecFed or
maintained, but not less than annually. This will economize the cost of the inspection if it is done at the
same time the Municipal crews are visiting the area.
S/Kl"LETP GfT TNE PRECAST ADVANTAGE. DOUBLEfP
canrir.ra» wisre.rres.arne
escriptioa: San Mateo,CA Document - Year.DocID 2011.115422 Page: 15 of 23
