Source for 2007 Certified EIR modeled employee exposures and modeled residential exposures: City of Redwood
City, Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Redwood City Costco Wholesale Project(SCH#2005092047),Volume
I, Section 4.5(Air Quality),Table 4.5-8.
2. Source for 2007 Certified EIR queuing emissions: Hans Giroux and Associates,Redwood City Costco Gas Station
Vehicle Queuing Impacts (memorandum from Hans Giroux to Amy Gramlich), May 22,2006.
3. On February 9,2010,the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency enacted a new federal one-hour nitrogen dioxide
standard of 100 parts per billion (188 ag/m3). The new federal standard became effective on April 12,2010,and is lower
than the California one-hour nitrogen dioxide standard of 0.18 parts per million(339ag/rrt)effective on March 20,2008.
4. 2007 Certified EIR modeled short-term employee and residential exposures to vehicle idling are adjusted above to reflect
vehicle queuing associated with the proposed project(including extreme maximum assumption)by scaling based on the
ratio of proposed project queuing emissions to 2007 Certified EIR queuing emissions for each identified pollutant.
5. Queuing emissions estimated for proposed expansion and extreme maximum assumption are based on information
presented in Table B-3. Note that the extreme maximum assumption that existing facility vehicle trips will double is
extremely unlikely. This is because for this to occur, the proposed facility's weekday averape hourly vehicle trips
would need to be 75%higher than the existing facility's weekday peak hour vehicle trips.
Page 2 Date: 7/30/2012
