MINUTE ORDER <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> MEETING <br /> March 11, 2013 <br /> MO. 13-057 <br /> CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT <br /> Redwood City <br /> Date: March 12, 2013 <br /> Attention: City Attorney <br /> Community Development Director <br /> **hard copy available upon request** <br /> SUBJECT: Inner Harbor Community Engagement Framework <br /> AGENDA ITEM: 8A (613) <br /> Meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on March 11, 2013. <br /> Present: Council Members Bain, Foust, Ira, Pierce, Seybert, Vice Mayor Gee, and Mayor Aguirre <br /> M/S Pierce/Seybert by motion, to 1) approve the Inner Harbor Community Engagement <br /> Framework, 2) approve the recommended Inner Harbor Task Force membership, 3) <br /> direct staff to initiate the Community Engagement Process, and 4) approve the staff's <br /> recommendations adding concepts referred to by Council Members and speakers. <br /> These include: finding means to include the whole community; consider balancing the <br /> needs of all; creating a broad vision and developing a decision making process that <br /> allows for consensus building while being inclusive but not losing momentum. <br /> The motion also includes somehow including the input from the entire community and <br /> utilizing the concept of at large stake holders, and returning with some options around <br /> broader workshops. It was also noted that consideration should be given whether to <br /> include people from other areas. Two Council Members wanted to include Lyngso and <br /> Granite Rock in the project plan area. Vice Mayor Gee shared concerns about adding <br /> too many alternatives that dilute the trajectory of the taskforce; instead, he advocated for <br /> a strong vision that is our City's vision with some alternatives.
