6.1.A. - Page 12
Member opined that while it may be frustrating to work with government, please do not
give up, keep at it, and eventually they will get something because it has worked for
him.
Vice Mayor Gee thanked Council Members Pierce and Bain for their advocacy work for
bicyclists and pedestrians. He also thanked Council Member Foust for serving on the
Transportation Authority Board and Mayor Aguirre for serving on C/CAG (City/County
Association of Governments), and that both are grant-awarding agencies for
transportation. Vice Mayor Gee noted that the Council serves on many committees and
they are aware of what needs to be done. He is satisfied with the General Plan
subcommittee to be pulled in to provide guidance, as it is in his opinion, the best
approach. He complimented Mr. Ekern and his staff on doing a great job. He noted
that this is part of the General Plan and will come up again through the Capital
Improvement Project presentation or grant opportunities. He believes the approach will
be customized for each unique project in terms of strategies, community
engagement/input, and then return to Council for final decisions.
Mayor Aguirre confirmed that there is a commitment to Complete Streets and livable
communities. She expressed her appreciation of the comments tonight and she too
does not support the cookie cutter approach. She supports the General Plan
subcommittee being consulted on some of these issues when needed.
10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended
B. City Council Committee Reports
Council Member Bain congratulated the Woodside High School girls for their basketball
team being tied for first place and going onto the CCS (Central Coast Section)
semifinals and for their soccer team being first in their Division. He wishes them good
luck.
C. City Manager (Oral) Update
Mr. Ponty, Acting City Manager, said the City Attorney relayed a message from Dr.
Robert Bell, City Manager, that the San Carlos City Council directed their City Manager
to finalize a full service proposal (for fire services with Redwood City) subject to both
City Councils approval.
11. ADJOURN - M/S Gee/Seybert - Mayor Aguirre adjourned the meeting in memory of
Duane Orville McDowell and Bob Franceschini at 9:36 p.m. Motion carried by
unanimous voice vote.
Respectfully submitted,
Silvia Vonderlinden,
City Clerk
Submitted for approval at the City Council meeting of March 25, 2013.
JOINT CITY COUNCIUSUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD February 25, 2013
MEETING MINUTES PAGE 12
