8.D. - Page 25 <br /> Redwood City has been an area leader in developing infill, higher density, transportation- <br /> oriented and mixed-use development near transportation hubs and along transportation <br /> corridors. The award-winning General Plan, adopted in 2010, along with the 2011 Downtown <br /> Precise Plan and the Zoning Ordinance, include measures for increasing density and <br /> destination accessibility that result in decreased vehicle trips and vehicle miles traveled. This <br /> Plan accounts for the estimated emissions reductions associated with the existing General Plan, <br /> Downtown Precise Plan, and Zoning Ordinance and proposes to continue to implement, <br /> monitor, and evaluate the existing policies through 2020. <br /> Complete Streets <br /> Category Measure Description Reductions <br /> (MTCOZe) <br /> TL2 Complete Remake urban landscape to make walking and biking <br /> 13.Transportation Streets Pedestrian/ more desirable. Add bike lanes, bike parking, and 5,570 <br /> and Land Use Bicycle traffic calming measures according to County and City <br /> Infrastructure bike lans. <br /> For the City's existing Complete Streets Program, this Plan accounts only for the emissions <br /> associated with completing the remaining bikeways identified for Redwood City in the 2011 San <br /> Mateo Comprehensive Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and proposes that the City complete the <br /> routes identified by 2020 in order to meet emissions reductions goals. However, since potential <br /> local routes that are not identified in the Comprehensive Plan can likewise contribute to <br /> emissions reductions, the City's next step is to identify and prioritize project areas to complete in <br /> phases up to 2020. <br /> Car and Bike Share Programs <br /> Category Measure Description Reductions <br /> (MTCOZe) <br /> 14.Transportation TL3 Bike and Car Pilot Regional Bicycle Share and Last Mile Connection 1,188 <br /> and Land Use Share Programs programs. <br /> The City is currently participating in the Regional Bicycle Share and Last Mile Connection Pilot <br /> Programs, which are scheduled to be rolled out in 2013-2014. Approximately 100 bicycles will <br /> be placed in and around downtown Redwood City to serve the Caltrain corridor from San Jose <br /> to San Francisco. This Plan accounts for emissions reductions associated with implementation <br /> of car and bike share programs in Redwood City and proposes that the City consider developing <br /> future recommendations for bike and car share programs after evaluating the pilots. <br /> 16 <br />
