Action by yaur agency must be taken prompt[y. <br /> The enabling acts for both agencies allaw the city to reappoint its director far an un[imited number of <br /> terms or to appoint a new director at the end of each term. The appointment will be for a four-year <br /> term. Hence, whoever is appointed wil[ �ave a term that extends ta June 2417. <br /> The enabling acts for both agencies requYre that a vacancy on their boards be �lled no [ater than 90 <br /> days from the date the vacancy occurs. As applied,the statutes require action by your counci! no <br /> latec than September 30, 2013. <br /> Howe�er, we encoura�e vour agency to make the a�ointments before June 30, effective 1u1,� <br /> that a quorum of both boards can be ensured, and so that your a�y is continUOUSIy repr�sented. <br /> The statutory c�ualif cations for appointment to either board are: <br /> • The a�pointee must be a resident of, and a registered voter in,the city. <br /> 4 He or she may, but need no#, be a rneznber of your city council. <br /> The mechanics ofthe appointment process are also simple: <br /> • The appointments must be made at a public meeting of the city counci] and be properly <br /> agendized. <br /> • The appointments must be made by action of the ful[ city co�ncil, rather than by unilateral <br /> action of the Mayor. <br /> � The appointments do nat need to be memorialized in a reso[Ution; a motion duly passed and <br /> recorded in the minutes ofthe meeting is suff�cient. <br /> • A copy of the record of the co�anci[ actions mak�ng the appointment should be sent to <br /> BAWSCA.
