Secfian 66602 of the McAteer-Petris Act states, <br /> in part, that"existing public access to the shoreline and waters of�he San Francisco Bay is <br /> inadequate and that maximum feasible public access, consistent with a proposed�raject, should <br /> be pro�'ided." BCDC's San Frarrcisco Bay Plan policies on PubZic Access state�Zat" ... maximum <br /> feasible public access to and along the waterfront and on any permitted fills should be pravided <br /> in and through every r�ew development an the Bay or on the shoreline,whether it be fo:r <br /> housing, industry,por�, airport,public facility,wildlife area or other use," and that the public <br /> access improvements .._shauld be designed and built to encourage diverse Ba�r-related <br /> activities and nnovement to and along the shoreline..."The Bay Plan policies on Recreation state <br /> that`"�d]iverse and aecessible water-oriented recreafionai faciiities...should be well distributed <br /> around the Bay and improved ta accommodate a broad range of�vater-oriented recreaiional <br /> activities of alI races, cultures, ages and income levels." <br /> Although BCDC has nat yet received a farmal application for the Pete's Harbor prajeet, <br /> RWC Harbor Cornmunities, LLC has sut�mitted designs for pre-application review of their <br /> public access developmeit�s to the BCDC staff and to BCDC's Desi�n Review Board.The Design <br /> Review Board is an advisory board that assists the Comznission in evaIuat�ng design aspects of <br /> a project. As presented to the Design Review Board and the staff, the proposed public access <br /> would inelude remaval af the existing boat slips and construction of a v�rater trail access do�k in <br /> the area of Lease No. PRC&857.
