Peninsula Library System (PLS), a group of 34 public and community college libraries in San Mateo
County. The nearest library to the project site is Fair Oaks Library located at 2510 Middlefield Road,
approximately 0.50 miles north of the project site.
4.14.2 Environmental Checklist and Discussion of Impacts
PUBLIC SERVICES
Less Than
Potentially Significant Less Than
Significant With Significant No Impact Beneficial Information
Impact Mitigation pf Pf Source(s)
Incorporated
Would the project:
1) Result in substantial adverse physical
impacts associated with the provision
of new or physically altered
governmental facilities,the need for
new or physically altered
governmental facilities,the
construction of which could cause
significant environmental impacts,in
order to maintain acceptable service
ratios,response times or other
performance objectives for any of the
public services:
Fire Protection? 1,2,3
Police Protection? 1,2,3
Schools? 1,2,3
Parks? 1,2,3
Other Public Facilities? 1,2,3
4.14.2.1 Impacts to Public Services
Police and Fire Services
The project would increase the density of development on the project site and, therefore,
incrementally increase the need for police and fire services; however, the project would not increase
the geographic area already served by the City's police and fire departments. The proposed project
would be constructed in conformance with current fire codes, including features to reduce potential
fire hazards. In addition, the final project design would be reviewed by the RCFD and the RCPD to
ensure that it incorporates appropriate safety features to minimize fire and safety hazards, and
criminal activity. The project would not preclude the City from meeting its fire and police service
response goals and would not result in the need to expand or construct new fire or police facilities.
(Less than Significant Impact)
Parks
The City has adopted the Parkland Dedication Ordinance(PDO) and Park Impact Ordinance(PIO)
that requires residential developers to dedicate parkland or pay in-lieu fees, or both,to offset the
demand for neighborhood parkland created by their residential developments (Municipal Code
Chapter 30). Based on the proposed site plan, the project site does not have sufficient land available
Kensington Assisted Living Facility Project 76 Initial Study
Redwood City Apri12013
