Lastly, <br /> she mentioned that she wanted this project to set a foundation to enhance everyone's <br /> life. <br /> Tracy DeLewu, with the Blue Deep Yard Construction and a Board of Director with the <br /> Redwood City Chamber of Commerce, said that this project is a good partnership. He <br /> said that it is a long term commitment and it will transform the neighborhood. He <br /> mentioned that the additional funds from this development would assist parks and <br /> recreation and music in the parks that will make the community and planners happy. <br /> Amy Buckmaster, President and CEO of Chamber of the Commerce, thanked Redwood <br /> City and the Subcommittee for their vision and hard work on the Guiding Principles. <br /> She also thanked Stanford for their investment in Redwood City and the partnership. <br /> Josh Pierry, resident of Redwood City and Board Member of the Redwood City <br /> Chamber of Commerce, commended Stanford for being a good partner. He also <br /> mentioned that this is a unique opportunity. He would like to see Redwood City be like <br /> Palo Alto. <br /> Jo Ann Socklov, with the Redwood City Education Foundation, said that it is the <br /> Foundation's 30t" Anniversary this year, and she thanked everyone for their vision, <br /> spirit, and heart. She stated that her foundation has primarily volunteers and she is <br /> pleased that that Stanford is partnering with Redwood City. <br /> Julie Wesolak, with the Sequoia YMCA, said that she was excited about the City-wide <br /> partnership and how it will serve all people from the youngest of the community to <br /> seniors and all in between. She said that Stanford has been supportive. <br /> James Lee mentioned the Freedom of Information Act request and he would like the <br /> Council to look at a letter from Gita Dev that was sent to the City Planning staff about <br /> having Pete's Harbor work with Stanford. It contains information regarding a <br /> development proposal. He also mentioned that what transpired earlier (at the meeting) <br /> was not acceptable and that the Council needed to work more on its guidelines. <br /> Eric Lochtefeld and Lori Lochtefeld stated that they were pleased to see the <br /> thoughtfulness in this project. They also congratulated Parks, Recreation and <br /> Community Services Director Chris Beth on his fundraising efforts. They also <br /> mentioned that they are glad that Stanford will be providing resources for higher <br /> education and afterschool programs. <br /> One Council Member said that he was not on the Council when this was launched and <br /> thanked the Subcommittee, City staff, and staff at Stanford. He stated that the Guiding <br /> Principles represent a true partnership that plays on strengths. Furthermore, it moves <br /> both organizations forward, and he appreciates knowing that behind the scenes there is <br /> a lot of flexibility in the project. <br /> Another Council Member thanked the Subcommittee and felt that the principles aligned <br /> with the goals of the Council.
