8.D. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> June 24, 2013 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> City Council appointment to fill two Library Board seats that expire June 30, 2017 <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By roll call vote appoint two applicants to the Library Board to serve until June 30, 2017. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Two Library Board seats will become vacant on June 30, 2013. The incumbents are: <br /> Jeanne Gross and Rudy Madrigal. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The recruitment period for the Library Board vacancies ran between April 29 and May <br /> 24, 2013. One application was withdrawn by the end of the recruitment period and <br /> because of the rather shallow pool of applicants, the recruitment period was extended to <br /> June 5, 2013. By this time, ten applications had been submitted and the City Council <br /> interviewed all applicants on June 10, 2013. <br /> The names of the applicants for consideration are: <br /> 1. Carrie Edens Bohaboy <br /> 2. Mara Bravo Gonzalez <br /> 3. Lisa Hicks-Dumanske <br /> 4. Adnan Iftekhar <br /> 5. Taroon C. Kamdar <br /> 6. Biliana Kaneva <br /> 7. Timothy Manglicmot <br /> 8. Jay T. Neville <br /> 9. Teresa Helen Walsh-Lyon <br /> 10.Cary Elizabeth Zuk <br /> All applicants meet the residency and registered voter requirements. The incumbents <br /> did not reapply. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> The City Council could decide not to fill these seats which might constitute a challenge <br /> for quorum purposes. <br />
