Note of thanks from National League of Cities to Police Department for taking time last <br />summer to answer a lengthy National League of Cities questionnaire about police <br />administration, organization and personnel practices. (Council. asked copy of this <br />communication be sent to Police Chief.) <br />Not ific•.,.tion from City of trance Cove advising of their adoption of a resolution express- <br />.n- support and devotion to the members of the armed forces of this country fighting <br />i.n Triet Nam and suggesting similar action to other municsipalities. <br />Mayor Rosselli_ announced City librarian was now present to make a brief presentation <br />regarding library situation in Friendly Ac=res arca which was to have been liven <br />in conjunction with the Water plan. <br />City Librarian stated his report :could be more in the nature of a <br />progress report on potentialities of library service in Friendly <br />Acres rather than what had been accomplished to date. He reported <br />on .recent meetings he had attended of the Human Resources Commission <br />and one "target;" area meetincr for cast Red,Iood City, and of the request <br />to be made that libraries and librarians be represented on the Human <br />Resources Commission. He mentioned discussions T,,ith Jol-In Connors, <br />representative of Rcdti1ood Ci.ty "t.,ar7,et" area for report on meetings <br />which mir.ht influence library service in Friendly Acres. <br />Ci.ty Librarian revie,tied history of library service in the Friendly <br />Acres area and present; library service in cooperation �,.ith County. <br />Mayor Rosselli stated he had asked for this report because of its being discussed <br />through Human Resources Commission and fact Taft School does not, have a library. <br />Ede suggested one might be financed through available Federal Funds, as he felt <br />Redwood City did have an obiigat?on to 3000 c,_tizens in this area. <br />Councilman Bury questioned school district area serving Friendly Acres. Councilman <br />Petersen. expressed surprise at interest for expanded library services for Friendly <br />Acres in view of i.nvest-l[;ation he had made �%,hich showed little interest, in this <br />connection. <br />Councilman Granger noted communication received by him, with copy to Mayor Rosselli, <br />from Jud�,e Thorpe rep;ar. ding retired personnel which he requested be referred to <br />Staff. ^ity Manager stated a copy had been delivered to him and it would be <br />i.nvesti ;aced and a report made.
