MINERAL RESOURCES -- Would the project:
a) Result in the loss of availability of a known mineral resource that would be of X
value to the region and the residents of the State?
b) Result in the loss of availability of a locally important mineral resource X
recovery site delineated on a local general plan, specific plan or other land use
plan?
Documentation
a. & b. The amendments and project site do not contain valuable or locally important mineral resources, nor will they
consume extraordinary amounts of mineral resources. Therefore, project implementation will not create an impact
on mineral resources.
Summary of Impacts
Potentially Less than Significant Less than
Significant With Mitigation Significant No
Im act Incor orated Im act Im act
XIL NOISE — Would the project:
a) Expose persons to or generate noise levels in excess of standards established in X
the local general plan or noise ordinance, or applicable standards of other
agencies?
b) Expose persons to or generate excessive ground-borne vibration or ground- X
borne noise levels?
c) Result in a substantial permanent increase in ambient noise levels in the X
project vicinity above levels esting without the project?
d) Result in a substantial temporary or periodic increase in ambient noise levels X
in the project vicinity above levels esting without the project?
e) For a proj ect located within an airport land use plan or, where such a plan has X
not been adopted, within two miles of a public airport or public use airport,
expose people residing or working in the project area to excessive noise
levels?
fl For a proj ect within the vicinity of a private airstrip, expose people residing or X
working in the proj ect area to excessive noise levels?
Documentation
a., b., & d. Noise in Redwood City is regulated by the City's Noise Ordinance (Chapter 24 of the Municipal Code). In
addition, the Noise Element of the City's General Plan enumerates noise policies. More specifically, excessive and
unreasonable noise levels are defined as noise levels generated by construction activities, including demolition,
alteration, repair or remodeling of existing structures, and construction of new structures, on property within the
City, at more than 110 decibels (dB) measured at arry point within a residential district of the City and outside of the
plane of the property.
Therefore, construction noise is required to be less than 110 dB within residential districts or within 500 feet of a
residential district in the City, and no construction noise is permitted between the hours of 8: 00 P.M. and 7: 00 A.M.
the following day. The General Plan requires all exterior noise sources (construction operations, air compressors,
pumps, fans, and leaf blowers) to use available noise suppression devices and techniques to bring exterior noise
down to acceptable levels compatible with adjacent land uses.
23
