5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Proclamation - Honoring Pets In Need for Its Humanitarian Work in <br /> Redwood City - Lisa Simmons, Executive Director - Alicia C. Aguirre, <br /> Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre presented the proclamation and thanked this organization for its 48 years <br /> of work in Redwood City. Ms. Simmons appreciated this recognition and thanked the <br /> Council for caring about animals. She explained how much she enjoys helping pets in <br /> need. She noted that their services cover Redwood City and neighboring communities. <br /> Various Council Members commented on how much they value the work Pets in Need <br /> provides. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances <br /> and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items. <br /> M/S Seybet/Gee to approve the Consent Calendar except for 6.3E. Motion carried <br /> unanimously by electronic vote. <br /> Council Member Foust recused herself and left the dais saying this was in an <br /> abundance of caution and because she weighed in on this professionally. <br /> M/S Pierce/Seybert to approve Consent Calendar item 6.3 E. Motion carried with six <br /> affirmative votes and Council Member Foust recused. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Dave McCallum, representing Redwood Creek Preservation Trust, thanked Council for <br /> its work and spoke about taking responsibility for garbage clean up in the creek. He <br /> asked for help to clean up the creek in honor of Earth Day at 9 a.m., along with the <br /> Redwood City Pride and Beautification Committee, and to meet at either Peninsula <br /> Yacht Club or at Public Works corporation yard on April 2p'n <br /> Dr. Bell, City Manager, helped clarify that the Redwood City Pride and Beautification <br /> Committee's Annual Spring Clean, in celebration of Earth Day, will be on April 20th <br /> beginning with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m., then clean up, and then lunch at the Public <br /> Works corporation yard. <br /> Caitlin Trainer spoke about what the Peninsula Yacht Club and Docktown meant to her; <br /> their tight community is like family. She shared that she was hospitalized three years <br /> ago and they helped her with a fundraiser for medical expenses. They also helped bail <br /> water when her houseboat began to take on water.
