<br />----~ -. <br /> Michael Gilmore, Vice President, Sequoia Station Developers, Inc., <br /> described specifics of the site plan and development process; the garage <br /> and culvert; the plaza; the opening to the Downtown area; and the buildings i <br /> and leases. <br /> Rebecca Shaefer, 150 Oak Street, Room 473, San Francisco, California, <br /> California Department of Transportation, advised that this project is well <br /> suited to the goals established by the State and discussed the parking lots <br /> and culvert. In response to Council questions Ms. Shaeffer advised the <br /> parking areas and traffic patterns were designed to handle increased train <br /> and bus schedules. <br /> Richard Gee, Deputy General Manager, 945 California Drive, Burlingame, CA, <br /> described the land transfer with Caltrans and the purchase of Southern <br /> Pacific property, and advised the acquisition funds were in the SamTrans <br /> budget. <br /> Edward Zampa, 50 Osgood, San Francisco, Leasing Agent for Sequoia Station <br /> Developers, Inc., described the project with 70% confirmed leases and 10% <br /> paper leases at this time: Safeway, Longs, Garcias, Fresh Choice with <br /> plans for a bakery, book store, sporting goods store and perhaps a title <br /> company. <br /> Sam Petersen, Chief Financial Officer Fresh Choice, 2901 Tasman, Santa <br /> Clara, described surveys to determine Sequoia Station as choice location <br /> for their restaurant. <br /> Donald Kallenberg, 47400 Kata Road, Fremont, Safeway, Real Estate Manager ; <br /> for Sequoia Station Project described confidence in development and current <br /> financing; current Redwood City Safeway Store to remain open; auxiliary <br /> stores along periphery; and from breaking ground to opening the store would <br /> take nine months. <br /> Orlo Jones, Longs Senior V. P. Member of the Board, 141 No. Civic Drive, <br /> Walnut Creek, described the successful history of Longs Stores and advised <br /> that Longs was a guarantor for the construction loan. <br /> David Irmer summed up the enthusiastic comments of the participants in the <br /> Sequoia Station Development and the lessees, and advised there would be <br /> hands on management of the project after completion. <br /> Council discussed the history of the project, crediting earlier Council <br /> Members such as Brenton Britschgi who was in the audience, and current <br /> Councilman Stangel, members of the original two-member committee, with <br /> foresight and creativity; financing options and production time frames; and <br /> suggestion for a date certain extension period. <br /> Redev.Agency Minutes <br /> April 22, 1991 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO.1 Page 2 <br />Page No. 006 <br />
