Park and Recreation Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of April 25, 2007 <br /> ITEM 4 — UPDATES <br /> -Pet Parade <br /> Commissioner ]oseph-Hover and Superintendent Beth discussed the plans for <br /> the Pet Parade scheduled for Saturday, ]une 2. More than 30 vendors have <br /> signed up to participate, flyers have gone out to the schools, judges have <br /> been selected, and "The Internationals" will be playing music at the event. <br /> -Capita/Improvement Projects FY 07-08 <br /> Superintendent Hover provided an update on the Fiscal Year 2007-2008 <br /> Capital Improvement Projects which was approved at the April 23 meeting of <br /> the City Council. The playground replacement program will include the <br /> renovation of two parks per year. <br /> Superintendent Beth announced that the Senior Affairs Commission is going <br /> out to senior groups to discuss the future renovation of the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center which is on the FY 2009-2010 CIP listing. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner ]oseph-Hover said she received a letter from Steve Zweig <br /> and the Redwood City Pop Warner Football group who have requested that <br /> McGarvey field be renamed after long time Pop Warner supporter Frank <br /> Guida. This item will be placed on the May agenda. <br /> -Chairperson Slusser stated that the Commissioners received an invitation <br /> from the Palo Alto Park and Recreation Commission to attend a meeting to <br /> discuss common issues facing commissions. Palo Alto is looking for two <br /> Commissioners to attend, but the date for the meeting has not been <br /> selected. <br /> -It was announced that a Commission representative was requested to <br /> participate in the Union Cemetery Master Plan process. <br /> -Commissioner Swope announced the Service League of San Mateo County <br /> will be holding their Annual Prayer Breakfast on May 3 from 7:00-9:OOam at <br /> the Crown Plaza in Foster City. Please contact her if you are interested in <br /> attending. <br /> ITEMS FOR NEXT MONTH'S AGENDA <br /> -Request from Redwood City Pop Warner group to rename McGarvey Field. <br /> The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned <br /> at 8:50pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the <br /> Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
