Park and Rec�eation Commission Page 2 <br /> Minutes of July 18, 2007 <br /> In addition, staff agrees to pass on the structural and <br /> "wordsmithing" changes to the consultant. <br /> Motion unanimously passed. <br /> ITEM 2 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Park Needs Assessment <br /> Chairperson Slusser reported the subcommittee and staff has been working <br /> closely with the consultant to develop the preliminary needs assessment. He <br /> noted the consultant is developing an interactive website for people to <br /> complete a five minute survey. Commissioner Swope will be testing an <br /> interview instrument with the Mayor. <br /> -Park Rules Enforcement <br /> The sub-committee's next meeting is scheduled for August 2. The Park Rules <br /> have been sent out to residents in their water bills. There was a question <br /> about getting this information out to renters who may not receive a water <br /> bill. <br /> Director Centeno provided some information about the City of San Mateo's <br /> Park Ranger Program which has an annual budget of $300,000 and includes <br /> one supervisor and five rangers. <br /> Director Centeno reported about a recent incident at the skatepark involving <br /> several bike riders and the Police. A public meeting to discuss the skatepark <br /> is being scheduled for Thursday, July 26 at 5:30pm at the theater in the <br /> Senior Center. <br /> -Hoover Park Renovation Project <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> -So/ari Windmill <br /> Superintendent Hover reported there are a few more things to be completed <br /> on the windmill and that he has received many positive comments from City <br /> staff about the windmill. Commissioner Joseph-Hover reported the windmill <br /> project is being considered for a Pride and Beautification Award. She <br /> announced a celebration and dedication of the windmill will be held on <br /> October 20 at 12noon at Union Cemetery. <br /> ITEM 4 — STAFF UPDATES <br /> -Guida Field Recommendation <br /> Director Centeno announced she attended a meeting of the Pop Warner <br /> Group to get their approval of the Commission's recommendation to re-name <br /> the 49er Field after Frank Guida. The Pop Warner Group agreed to partner <br /> with the City on this project and will come up with the history for the Council <br /> report. Director Centeno said the Pop Warner Group was interested in <br /> naming the 49er field "Guida-49er Field". Commissioner Joseph-Hover said <br />
