The Commissioners asked questions about the specific items listed on the grant request in order to identify those that were cultural in nature. Commissioner Distefano asked if the City of Redwood City was giving anything towards the Chinese delegation visit. Mr. Frisch said the City donated the time of Pat Valentine from the City Manager's Office throughout the visit and also provided various in-kind donations. Commissioner Distefano felt Redwood City International needs to approach more companies and the Port �f Redwood City for donations. Mr. Frisch stated Redwood City International has approached foundations and other organizations for funding. M/S Piulle/Distefano: To grant Redwood City International $1,200.00 which would fund $650.00 for the facility/technical costs at Canada College, $350.00 for art supplies, and $200.00 for props for the artists. Commissioner Saye suggested having Redwood City International contact companies who currently have trade relations with China for support of future visits. Mr. Frisch stated Jim Irizarry and Georgi LaBerge are currently working on a presentation that will be made to various groups and companies. Motion passed unanimously. Superintendent Hartman suggested to Mr. Frisch that he recommend to the Board of Redwood City International that they evaluate their budget and future plans and come back to the Commission in March or April 1996 with a presentation so the Commission could consider their funding request during the development of their FY 96-97 budget.
