Civic Cultural Commission Page S <br /> Minutes of November 7, 1996 <br /> -City Hall Historical Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported that Helen Graves and her committee have <br /> not met yet but when they do, the Commission will be represented. <br /> -Red Morton Art Opening <br /> The Park and Recreation Commission will be advised that the Cultural <br /> Commission would like a representative to work on this sub-committee. <br /> ITEM 6-1997 SUMMER CONCERTS <br /> This item will be deferred until later in the meeting. <br /> ITEM 7-UPDATE ON RED MORTON CENTER ART WORK <br /> The Commissioners received a letter from Helen Webber regarding the <br /> revised cartoon presented at this evening's meeting. The Commissioners <br /> discussed the revised cartoon and the changes the artist had made. <br /> M/S Redington/Britschgi: To accept the cartoon as presented. <br /> Park and Recreation Commissioners Susan Swope and Ed Nordness said they <br /> liked the revised cartoon and approved of the design. It was noted the <br /> completed tapestry will be three separate panels with a total size of 10' x 10' <br /> and it will be hung by City staff. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioner Nordness stated he hoped the art work installation would be <br /> completed as close to January 20 (one year anniversary of Red Morton Center) <br /> as possible and would not exceed a one month delay. <br /> ITEM 6-1997 SUMMER CONCERTS <br /> Chairperson Piulle reported that $4,900.00 was requested from the Port <br /> Commission to fund the 1997 Summer Concert series; last year $5,200.00 was <br /> received for the 1996 concert series. The funding request will be decided at the <br /> November 13 Port Commission meeting. Commissioner Filippi reviewed <br /> the 1997 concert schedule and made a few revisions. The free concert with <br /> Sounds of Swing needs to be discussed further with Manager Linda Griffith. <br /> M/S Saye/Redington: To accept the sub-committee's recommendations for <br /> the 1997 Summer Concert Series schedule as presented. <br /> Commissioner Filippi suggested substituting Country and Western band <br /> Desert Wind for the Sounds of Swing concert if necessary. <br />
