ITEM 2-RELOCATION OF ARGUELLO STATUE
Charles jany reported the FTB and Joint Powers Board have developed a plan
to install disabled access platforms near the present location of the Arguello
statue. Installation of the accessible ramp would mean the
relocation of this particular piece of art work. Mr. jany and the
Commissioners discussed several possible locations where the art work could
be relocated.
M/S Saye/Redington: To form a sub-committee to work on the relocation
of the Arguello statue.
Motion passed.
Commissioners Distefano, Redington and Saye volunteered to be on the sub-
committee and will work with Mr. jany on this issue. This matter will be put
on the April agenda.
ITEM 3-MURAL GUIDELINES PROCEDURE
The Commissioners were given a copy of the proposed Mural Guidelines and
approval process and Charles Jany reviewed it with them. It was suggested
that an article be placed in the Redwood City Update and other newspapers to
let the public know there is a permit process for murals.
M/S Saye/Redington: To accept the mural guidelines and the mural
approval process. If approved by City Council, send a directive to
Planning Division to amend the building ordinances to include
this process.
Motion passed.
ITEM 4-KENNEDY SCHOOL GRANT REQUEST
Drama teacher Elena Mori stated Kennedy School is requesting $2,300 for the
production of "The King and I" to be held on May 3 and 4. Chairperson Piulle
advised Ms. Mori that the Commission has no money in their budget at this
time and would be unable to vote to provide grant monies. It was explained
that the Commission has applied for funding to the Port Commission for
their Summer Concert Series but until the funding is approved, the
Commission has no funds available to grant. It was suggested having Ms.
Mori return to the April Commission meeting to have her grant request
reconsidered. Ms. Mori stated that it would be too late to review this request
one month from now as the play will be held May 3 and 4. However, she did
state that if additional funds are forthcoming, she has up to a week after the
show is finished to pay.
