/' <br /> Civic Cu/tu�a/Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of Decembe�3, 1998 <br /> Commissioner Schenone announced North Star Academy will present their <br /> musical program on Friday, December 4 at 7:OOpm and Saturday, December <br /> 5 at 1 1 :OOam at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Saye announced the Ledesma paintings have been re-framed <br /> and hung at City Hall. The light issue in the gallery is being addressed. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi plans to meet with Community Development Director <br /> Deborah Nelson in January to discuss public art. <br /> -Planning <br /> Commissioners Pierce, Saye and Schenone met to discuss formulating a 5-10 <br /> year plan and were interested in finding out what surrounding cities do to <br /> , support/promote the arts. A list of questions was developed and each of the <br /> Commissioners will be calling certain cities to complete their research. The <br /> sub-committee developed a 9 month timeline for the Commission; it will be <br /> forwarded to the Commissioners in their next packet. <br /> -Budget <br /> The Commissioners want to look at the grant funding process; a copy of last <br /> year's funding packet will be forwarded to all the Commissioners to review <br /> before the next meeting. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> ITEM 4 — BELMONT ART COMMISSION PRESENTATION <br /> Vice Chairperson Redington announced he and Superintendent Centeno made <br /> a presentation before the newly formed Belmont Art Commission. The two <br /> groups shared ideas and information and the Belmont organization was <br /> provided with a comprehensive packet of information about our Commission <br /> operation and its grant process. He thanked Superintendent Centeno for <br /> putting together a complete packet of information for the Belmont Art <br /> Commission. <br /> ITEM 5 — EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD DURING THE PAST <br /> 30 DAYS <br /> -Vice Chairperson Redington announced the Optimist Club of Redwood City <br /> recently attended a meeting of the Redwood City School Board and <br /> presented them with eleven musical instruments with a value of 52,540.00. <br /> -Commissioner Britschgi announced the Redwood City Art Center silent <br /> auction was a huge success and over 52,900.00 was raised at the event. <br /> She also attended the Olive and Art Festival at Canada College. <br /> -Vice Chairperson Redington read that Joe Marchi will be making a <br /> presentation on January 12 at 1 :OOpm at St. Andrew's Church in Daly City <br /> on the "Healing Powers of Music". <br />
