Civic Cultural Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of Thursday, April 6, 2000 <br /> ITEM 4 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget, Public Art Fund Establishment <br /> Superintendent Centeno confirmed that City Council action would be <br /> required to establish a public art fund. She will be writing the staff <br /> report and need two Commissioners to review the report before it is <br /> presented in mid-May. It was requested that all Commissioners read <br /> the City of Menlo Park staff report on their public art program and that <br /> Commission input would be given at the May meeting on what we <br /> should have in our proposal. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> The finalists for each grade level have been hung in the CAB hallway <br /> and Commissioners were instructed that voting needs to be completed <br /> by Friday, April 14 in order to get letters out to the schools and <br /> students. Superintendent Centeno stated that 371 entries were <br /> received for the contest. There was discussion that many of the <br /> entries were not completed on the regulation forms and whether or <br /> not to accept them as presented. <br /> M/S DelCarlo/Saye: To accept the art work as presented. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-4, No-1 Schenone) <br /> -Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo announced the concerts will begin on June 21 <br /> and we are still looking for a salsa band for the program. <br /> -Public Art, Status of Sister City Ship <br /> Commissioner Britschgi stated the sub-committee met this week and <br /> she contacted Mayor Ruskin about the jade ship. The Commissioners <br /> discussed meeting with the Architectural Advisory Committee to <br /> resolve this matter. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi said the sub-committee reviewed the public art <br /> brochure and updated the information. The Commissioners discussed <br /> updating the photographs and information in the brochure and the cost <br /> of re-printing the document. <br /> The Commisioners suggested asking John Anagnostou to speak at the <br /> July meeting regarding the renovation of the Fox Theater. <br />
