�� <br /> Civic Cultural Commission Page 4 � <br /> Minutes of April 5, 2001 Y <br /> ITEM 3 - RECOMMENDATION TO SPONSOR A FUNDRAISING EVENT <br /> FOR THE REDWOOD CITY ART CENTER <br /> Director Centeno explained that Joan Jordan called her asking that <br /> Councilwoman Jordan be placed on the agenda to talk about the Cultural <br /> Commission putting on a fundraising event for the Redwood City Art Center. <br /> The Commissioners discussed this matter and the fact that at their February <br /> meeting they were interested in putting funds aside if the Art Center was <br /> interested in putting on their own fundraising event. <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Dale: To set aside $2,000 to potentially fund a grant <br /> request from the Redwood City Art Center and ask them to bring an <br /> eligible grant request before the Commission. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-4, No-i Del Carlo, Abstain-1 Soultanian due to <br /> conflict of interest) <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Kushin: That the Cultural Commission is not <br /> interested in putting on a fundraising event for the Redwood City Art <br /> Center because it is not consistent with the mission of the Cultural <br /> Commission. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-5, Abstain-1 Soultanian due to confiict of <br /> interest) <br /> ITEM 4 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget, Report from Budget Committee <br /> Director Centeno reviewed the recommendation from the Budget Committee <br /> for the Fiscal Year 2001-2002 budget. <br /> M/S Dale/Kushin: To accept the report from the Budget Committee <br /> for the 2001-2002 budget. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> -Children and Schools, Art Contest Update <br /> Secretary Monroe reported that the top three winners from each grade have <br /> been selected and letters to the winners and their school principals have <br /> been mailed out. Winners will each receive a trophy at the awards ceremony <br /> at our May 3 meeting at the City Council Chambers. The Mayor and Vice <br /> Mayor have been invited to assist with the awards presentations. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Events, Summer Concert Series <br /> Commissioner Kushin distributed the proposed 2001 Summer Concert Series <br /> schedule. Both he and Commissioner Del Carlo worked with Manager Jan <br /> Knight in selecting the bands and Manager Knight will be negotiating <br /> contracts with all performing groups. Total cost for the 2001 Concert Series <br /> is $5,750.00 and the Port Commission funding is $5,500.00. The difference <br /> of $250.00 will come from FY00-01 Commission funds.
