Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 ` <br /> Minutes of August 9, 2001 ° <br /> M/5 Douglas/Kushin: To grant $1,000.00 to the Red�wood Shores <br /> Homeowners Association to be used for entertainment. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 2 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget, Status of request for additional funds from Council <br /> Commissioner pouglas spoke about his presentation to Council regarding the <br /> Commission's request for additional funds. He stated that the Council asked <br /> about the Commission's direction, mission statement, and its priorities. <br /> Chairperson Britschgi, Commissioner pouglas and Director Centeno will meet <br /> to develop a planning document. Director Centeno spoke about timing of the <br /> request and the preparation for the City's two year budget cycle. <br /> Commissioner Dale suggested that the Commission hold a special meeting to <br /> develop a strategic plan and to have Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center <br /> facilitate the meeting. The Commissioners discussed various ways to develop <br /> a plan and information that would be needed as part of the process. <br /> -Budget, Deliberation & Decision on FY 01-02 Large Grant Requests <br /> Director Centeno distributed a memo and spoke about FY2001-2002 Budget <br /> Committee recommendations for the large grant requests. She reminded the <br /> Commissioners that its total budget for this fiscal year was $77,150 and the <br /> Commission received $152,550.00 in large grant requests. <br /> The Commission took a short recess at 8:03pm and the meeting was called <br /> back to order at 8:14pm. <br /> Marni Tuel, Executive Director of Kollage Community School for the Arts, <br /> explained she was unable to attend the June 7 grant presentation meeting <br /> and wanted to explain Kollage's grant request. She explained their <br /> $12,000.00 grant request was to fund two programs; $9,500.00 was for <br /> operational support for Redwood City programs held at Red Morton and <br /> Sandpiper Centers, and $2,500.00 was for an ethnic dance program to be <br /> held at a Redwood City school. She explained that Kollage's grant request <br /> was not related to the Redwood City Education Foundation's grant request for <br /> the '�Music for Learning" program. <br /> The Commissioners congratulated Bruce Codding and Redwood City <br /> Educational Foundation for their recent grant from Starbucks. The <br /> Commissioners discussed the large grant requests and how to allocate their <br /> available funds. <br /> M/S Soultanian/Dale: To grant $10,000.00 to City Center Plaza 7azz <br /> Series. <br /> Motion passed (Yes-6, No-1 Del Carlo) <br />
