7.1.A. - Page 7 <br /> Council thanked the Chief for his report and appreciated his approaches of making our <br /> community safer. One Council Member would like to see the collision data itself. The <br /> Chief noted that this software will provide contemporary data to be picked up and <br /> analyzed. A particular intersection was discussed in detail. Another Council Member <br /> commented that approach is very important and this seems like a valid approach. <br /> Vice Mayor Gee inquired specifically how the various components: data, education and <br /> enforcement work together. The Chief provided details on how the three inter-relate and <br /> how the goal is to always be inclusive and promote communication and education. The <br /> Mayor inquired about next steps and Chief Gamez provided details. Mayor Aguirre also <br /> inquired if we are partnering with the Sheriff's Office or other entities. The Chief <br /> confirmed that other local traffic enforcement agencies throughout San Mateo County <br /> will also be involved. <br /> 8. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended — Council <br /> Member Pierce reported on attending the C/CAG Congestion Management <br /> and Environmental Quality meeting where Ms. Sandy Wong provided details <br /> on the Safe Routes to School program and how data shows that people who <br /> drive their kids to school is primarily because of safety fears. <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update — He announced an upcoming fundraiser for <br /> the concert series and soon the winner for the shirt contest will be <br /> announced soon as well. He also noted that the 4t" of July events will be <br /> soon announced. <br /> 9. ADJOURNMENT— By Council consensus, the City Council meeting adjourned at <br /> 7:48 p.m. in memory of Fernando Vega and Nadia Holober and in memory of all <br /> those who perished in Oklahoma.
