The driveway on Lot 5 would be located two feet from the channel
and would not result in loads on the channel lining from vehicle traffic.14 The project would include
placement of a water detention pipe adjacent to the creek channel at the back of the property. Water
weighs approximately half the weight of soil. The proposed detention system full of water would
weigh less than the soil it replaces, placing no surcharge load on the creek channel lining. Soils
adjacent to the creek would not become unstable as a result of the project and the project site,in
proximity to the creek, would not be susceptible to damage from landslides or soil collapse. (Less
Than Significant Impact)
The project site has highly expansive soil. The proposed project would be designed and constructed
in accordance with standard engineering safety techniques and in accordance with a design-specific
geotechnical report which will be prepared for the project to reduce soils impacts to a less than
significant level. (Less Than Significant Impact)
In addition to following the recommendations of the design-specific geotechnical report, the project
shall be designed and constructed in accordance with the 2010 California Building Code which
contains the regulations that govern the construction of structures in California. Adherence to the
2010 Building Code would increase the likelihood of the project to resist minor earthquakes without
damage and major earthquakes without collapse.
