8.B. - Page 98 ?oad
Redwood City, California
Table 3, Tree Assessment Chart, lists each tree with trunk measurement, overall condition,
suitability for preservation with comments germane to the tree's condition. Information
provided in the chart will assist in the design and layout phases of the project.
Conclusions
VRP clearly expressed to ROC that it wishes to preserve as many mature trees as possible
in order to enhance the landscape of the proposed residences. For that reason the
preservation status of trees 2, 5, 6, 8 and 10 was to be determined in the field. (Refer to
Table 3)
Proper implementation of the attached Tree Protection Plan, which includes regular
monitoring by a qualified Arborist, is expected to extend the life of those protected trees
determined to be moderately or highly suitable for preservation.
Recommendations
1. Tree protection measures specified in the Tree Protection Plan should be properly
implemented prior to the commencement of construction activities and continue
until the completion of construction.
2. Final grading, improvement and construction plans should consider the tree data
presented in this report to proactively reduce construction impacts to the trees
through the design process.
3. Pruning of the trees for clearance should be performed by a qualified tree
contractor licensed by the state of California and properly bonded and insured.
Actual pruning should be performed or supervised by an ISA Certified Arborist or
Certified Tree Worker.
Ralph Ostel°ling Consultants,Inc. 2
