8.B. - Page 199
7/l5/l3
To whom it may cancern;
My name is KelIie Guinto and I live at 1364 Valoa Road in Redwood City and T am writing
hecause I am opposed to the pianned development of Z110 Vaiata Rd_
In the past years the parking on Valota has become a nig}tmare and is almost impossible for me
to park in front of my home due to al I the home based business operating on Valota near my
home. 3ave personally compiained several tirres ta the police department, code enforcernent,to
the city,to councilmembers and nothing has been done to frst address the existing problem and
now tha city is adding more residents that will onIy increase the existing parking problem. I
attended the Plannig Commission meeting and therwas no mention as ta where the
construction crew, e4uipment and vehicIes will be parked.
1 have ]ived at my acdress for over 10 years. There has been no outreach done to neighborsor
this project. On March 13,20l 2 a leter(atCached)was sent to Associate Planner Michelle
LiIefieId from neighbor Lori Burnett that outlined the cozzcrns of the neighbors. That letter was
rtever acknowledged or responcied ta. Lori requested as a resident of Redwood City to be notied
of fiture meatings regarding this project and that never happened.
Valota Rd. currently has single-farnily units, duplex and triplex units. I am very concerned about
the Iook af the new developmen.Ascetically will it camplement the street and the existing
homes? There is no proof that this project will not degrade the visual character of my street.
I reviewed the initial study that I found on the cities website. And after reviewing the study, I find
that there is no beneficial impact to the city or my neighborhood. In fact with the construction
there is a hig Iikefy hood that ngative impact to the air quality will affect my son's(who suffers
from asthma)ability to breathe. Page 23 says that the construction-generated dust would result in
a short-term significant air quality impact.
Page 60 says that peace of the neighborhood wil be will be signifrcantly impacted hy the noise of
derrioiition and canstruction between the hours or 7:OOam—8:04pm. The nuisance wiIl aft'ect my
farniIy,my children and the residential day care zzext door to my home. I am not impressed with
deelopers' claims to hrre a"disturbance coordinator"who will most likely wait until the
neighbors lives have become so disrupted thatve are forced to fincthis person and complain.
Why were we not notied? How is it that the city can determine what happens on the street I live
on without een contacting me or my neighbors. As a resident of Redwood City, per the •
California Public Records Act,l would like to request alI permits, dacumerrs, email
correspondence and any other relevant information
I expect to be updated and notified of any proposed developmnts an my street that impact my
family and me.
SincereIy,
Kelli Guinto
C.(I"t/'-
