MINERAL RESOURCES --Would Potentially Less Than Less Than No
the praject: Significant Sigruficant Significant Impact
Impact with Impact
Mitiga tion
Incorporation
a) Result in the loss of availability of a ❑ ❑ ❑
known mineral resource that would be of
value to the region and the residents of the
state?
b) Result in the loss of availability of a ❑ ❑ ❑
locally-important mineral resource
recovery site delineated on a lacageneral
plan, specific plan or other land use plan?
2.12 NOISE
The Noise Technical Report provides background explanarion of noise characteristics, typical levels,
and key terms, describes background noise levels in the project area, sununarizes tle applicable
regularions, evaluates the potenrial impacts of the project to sensirive receptors, and recommends
mitigation measures for potentially significant itnpacts.Appendix J contains the Noise Technical
Report for the US 101 Pedestrian Undercrossing and Bair Island Road Storm Dxain Pump Station
Project.
The proposed project would be located in a noise environment highly influenced 1oy the ttaffic on US
101. Qther noise sources in the vicinity of the pxoject axe local streets and occasional aircraft. The
surraunding land uses axe compatible with this environment and include coxmercial(xegional and
office professional/technology),miYed-use districts {commercial and residenrial),and open space
uses. Houseboats line Redwood Creek north of US 101. Tle nearest noise sensitive receptors south
of US 101 are the residential district on Brewster Avenue more than 0.25 rniles f'rom the project,
Kaiser'ermanente Medical Centex 0.3 nvles away, andrion Elementarp Schoo10.4 miles away.
The two districts adjacent to the project area,Mied Use Waterfront Development north of the
highway ad Mixed Use Corridor south of the highway, are affected by traffic noise fxom US 101.
The general plan requi_res that structures in these districts be designed to account for the background
traffic noise. Residenrialnits in both ateas are curYentlp under constructio.
The 2010 Redwood City General Plan adopts noise guidelines for land use planning and establishes
"normally acceptable" and"conciitionally acceptahle" criteria for new develapment in different iand
use categories. The Communitq Noise Equivalent Leve1 (CNEL) noise le-els,in decibels (dB}, for
the land uses in the vicinity of the project as follows.
2-51 US 01 Pedestaasa Uradercro.c.rirag and Bair
Lrlarad Kaad Stom Draan Pump Stataon Project
