7.2.B. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> November 18, 2013 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance - Sanitary Sewer Pump Station 10 Improvements Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Accept, by motion, the Sanitary Sewer Pump Station 10 Improvements Project and <br /> authorize the release of retention according to city procedures. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On December 17, 2012, Council awarded the construction contract for the Sanitary <br /> Sewer Pump Station 10 Improvements Project to Block a Construction, Inc. of Fremont, <br /> CA for their responsive and responsible low bid of $339,500. The improvements <br /> included removing a portion of the existing motor control cabinet (MCC) to allow for <br /> installation of two (2) variable frequency drives and remote telemetry unit (RTU). Other <br /> miscellaneous items included installation of two (2) level transducers with level <br /> indicators, conduits, temporary bypass pumping units, back up floats and painting of <br /> existing MCC and generator enclosures. <br /> Construction started in April 2013 and was substantially completed in end of September <br /> 2013. Final walkthrough was conducted with PWS staff on October 2, 2013 and project <br /> achieved final completion on October 15, 2013. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The contractor was awarded for a base bid of $339,500. The project was successfully <br /> completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. Change orders were issued <br /> totaling $3,870.51 . The final contract amount is $343,370.51 which is 1 .1 °k more than <br /> the initially awarded contract amount. Change orders resulted from additional work <br /> required to relocate RTU from exterior to inside MCC unit and painting of existing <br /> generator enclosure. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to accept the project and/or authorize the release of retention <br /> which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and the public <br /> contracting code. <br /> FISCALIMPACT <br /> Sufficient funding for this construction agreement was previously approved as Sewer <br /> Fund Capital Projects -- Pump Station No. 101mprovements Project. <br />
