8.A. - Page 141
manner not consistent with the provisions of the DPP and Yhe EIR about
preserving even "lesser historical buildings" as part of the Downtown"character".
E. The Development violates the strategic general plan endorsed by the EIR in
section 8.2.1. Specifically, the Development does not enhance the "esthetic
quality, architectural character, cohesiveness, historic character ar the human
scale" of the Downtown area. It also does not promote improvement in districts
which may have only slight historical architectural significance, or are adjacent to
such districts.
F. Finally, the Development does nothing to "preserve and enhance visible reminders
of the city's historic and architectural heritage" in the Downtown and its fringe
areas.
IV. Conclusions.
A. We suppor[responsible development in the Downtown area.
B. We approve of the "complete streets approach" to Downtown that should
encompass any development on Bradford Street.
C. We deserve compatible architectural development of an area immediately adjacent
to our cluster of historical buildings across Bradford Street.
D. We deserve something other than a ten story escarpment rising up 114 feet just
fifty feet across tbe street from us.
E. Therefore, we are requesting denial of the permit for this Development or
dramatic modification of the proposed Development. We have provided several
drawings as Exhibit C to this appeal far the consideration of more rational
development by the Counsel.
Date:
Atto• for OS Middlefield LLC —
11
