4.2.A. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> December 9, 2013 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance —2011-2012 Sewer Rehabilitation Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By motion, accept the 2011-2012 Sewer Rehabilitation Project and authorize the <br /> release of retention according to City procedures. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On January 28, 2013, Council awarded the construction contract for the 2011-2012 <br /> Sewer Rehabilitation Project to Andes Construction, Inc., of Oakland, California to <br /> rehabilitate approximately 10,570 linear feet of 6-inch and 8- and replace 273 sanitary <br /> sewer laterals. <br /> Construction began in April 2013 and achieved final completion in August 2013. Final <br /> walkthrough was conducted with PWS staff and punchlist items were completed by the <br /> end of September 2013. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The contract was awarded for a base bid of $1,212,120. The project was successfully <br /> completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and within the timeframe <br /> allowed by contract. The final contract amount is $1,185,372 which is 2.2 % lower than <br /> the initially awarded contract amount. Adjustments in bid quantities (additions and <br /> deletions) and some minor design modifications due to unforeseen field conditions <br /> resulted to a deductive change order amounting to $26,748. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of retention which <br /> would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and public <br /> contracting code. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Sufficient funding for the work of this contract was previously appropriated as Sewer <br /> Fund Capital Projects— Sewer Rehab Program. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that acceptance of the 2011- <br />
