4.3.A. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> December 9, 2013 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Results of the November 5, 2013 General Consolidated November 5, 2013 Municipal, <br /> School & Special District Election based on the County of San Mateo Chief Elections <br /> Officer Certificate and Final Official Canvass <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt a resolution reciting the facts of the Municipal, School & Special District Election <br /> held on November, 5 2013 and declaring the results as provided by law. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The City of Redwood City holds its elections on odd-numbered years with alternating <br /> three or four seats being on the ballot. On the ballot this year were three seats with one <br /> of the incumbents being termed out as per Charter § 9a. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The City Clerk's Office has received the Certificate of the Chief Elections Officer of the <br /> County of San Mateo, executed on December 2, 2013 with the election results. The <br /> final official results by the Chief Elections Officer reports the following votes for each of <br /> the candidates: Jeff Gee 4,865 votes, Diane Howard 4,403, John D. Seybert 3,730, <br /> Corrin Rankin 2,560 votes, James (Lee) Han with 2,259 and Ernie Schmidt with 2,124. <br /> The newly elected City Council Members are: Jeff Gee (incumbent), Diane Howard, and <br /> John D. Seybert (incumbent). <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> None. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> There will be a cost to the election and this is usually submitted to the city in early <br /> January. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> Not a project under CEQA. <br />
