7.1.A. - Page 26
• Natural Gas Use
o The new water reclamation system requires less heating, resulting in a 50% reduction in
natural gas consumption.
• Waste Production
o Before starting our recycling program in Conyers, an audit revealed we were producing about
8 pounds of trash per employee. Today we have reduced our impact on landfills by 43 %.
• LEED Certification
o The New York Sales Offices and Showroom has just been awarded LEED® /GOLD
certification from USGBC.
o Holophane was awarded LEED® Certification for its Headquarters in Granville, OH
• Innovative Packaging Solutions
o We have worked with various customers, as well as packaging vendors, to reduce packing
and waste on construction sites. With smarter packaging, we're able to increase the density
of our shipments, thereby reducing the number of trucks required each year for product
transport. We have also developed shipping systems that minimize waste and can be
returned and reused for future shipments.
• Proactive Participation
o Our employees are directly involved with industry groups working to establish energy and
environmental standards, such as the ASHRAE/ IESNA Standard 90.1, US Green Building
Council, Consortium for Energy Efficiency, Clinton Climate Initiative and Energy Star
programs.
