STAFF REPORTS <br /> A Tobacco Regulation Ordinance- (301) <br /> The Assistant to the City Manager reported on this proposed Ordinance which San Mateo County <br /> has already adopted, containing more stringent enforcement and fines for purchase and sale of <br /> tobacco by underage youth. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding enforcement procedures and by whom. <br /> Edith Caduslay, San Mateo County Health Services Agency, reported on current law and <br /> enforcement procedures within the County. <br /> Mark Margolis, speaking for John Handley, representing Northern California Grocery Association <br /> who are not in favor of further regulation as there are already laws in place with extensive training <br /> for grocers regarding non-sale oftobacco to minors. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding past enforcement and fines compared to the current new San Mateo <br /> County ordinance, and what type of enforcment the County will be conducting, and what impacts to <br /> our Redwood City Police Department. <br /> MIS BainlHartnett to introduce the Ordinance by reading the title only, and waive the reading <br /> in entirity. <br /> The City Clerk read the title "ORDINANCE ADDING ARTICLE HEADING 1 FOR <br /> SECTIONS 15.1.15.7 AND REPEALING SECTION 15.8 OF, AND ADDING ARTICLES 11, <br /> lll, and IV TO , CHAPTER 15 OF THE CODE OF CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING <br /> TO LOCAL SMOKING REGULATIONS, ENFORCEMENT OF STATEWIDE SMOKING <br /> PROHIBITIONS, TOBACCO RETAIL PERMITS AND PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS <br /> OF THE PROVISIONS OF SAID CHAPTER, RESPECTIVELY". <br /> The motion was carried by the following roll call vote; A YES: Council Members Bain, CLaire, <br /> Hartnett, Ira, Ruskin and Mayor Howard. NOES; None. ABSENT: Council Member Leipzig. <br /> B. RESOLUTION NO. 13492 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF <br /> ONE (1) L TI 100' TRACTOR DRAWN AERIAL LADDER FIRE TRUCK UNDER THE <br /> COOPERATIVE PURCHASE PROVISIONS OF THE CITY OF SAN MATEO'S <br /> PURCHASE ORDER NO.
