01/27/2014 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15317 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY SUPPORTING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDING <br /> FOR A C/CAG PRIORITY DEVELOPMENT AREA PLANNING GRANT <br /> AND COMMITTING ANY NECESSARY MATCHING FUNDS <br /> WHEREAS, THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY (herein referred to as the City) <br /> desires to submit an application to the City / County Association of Governments <br /> (C/CAG) in an amount not to exceed $500,000 in funding for the DOWNTOWN <br /> TRANSIT CENTER IMPROVEMENTS AND STREETCAR PROJECT (herein referred <br /> to as PROJECT) for the PRIORITY DEVELOPMENT AREA PLANNING PROGRAM <br /> (herein referred to as PROGRAM); and <br /> WHEREAS, The City is an eligible sponsor for REGIONAL DISCRETIONARY <br /> FUNDING; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City is applying for a C/CAG grant to fund the PROJECT; and <br /> WHEREAS, In accordance with the Downtown Precise Plan, the PROJECT is <br /> consistent with the focused strategy of collaborating with Caltrain, the High Speed Rail <br /> Authority, and other stakeholders to better integrate the railroad into Downtown <br /> (Revitalization Strategy B.10); and <br /> WHEREAS, The PROJECT furthers the goals of the Precise Plan by capitalizing <br /> on the potential benefits of enhanced commuter rail service and studying land use <br /> patterns that can link the train and Courthouse Square (Revitalization Strategy B.7.); <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, The PROJECT also assists in implementing the General Plan by <br /> funding a feasibility study on a streetcar or similar system in the Broadway Corridor. <br /> (Policy BE-28.3 of the General Plan). <br /> ATTY/RESO.2946/LOCAL SUPPORT FOR C/CAG PRIORITY DEVELOPMENT AREA PLANNING GRANT RESO.#15317 <br /> REV:01-14-14 JS MUFF#505 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
