Finally, approve the expenditure of any remaining funds for the training and equipment of the <br /> department's Special Weapons and Tactics team. The motion passed by majority voice vote. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 98-274 <br /> B. Implementation of Downtown Parking Meter Recommendations (703) <br /> The Assistant to the City Manager provided a brief report to Council as this matter of business was <br /> presented to Council on November 16, 1998, and is presented tonight for a public hearing of which <br /> the of notice of public hearing affidavit of publication on file with the City Clerk. <br /> Public Hearing Opened- 8:00 p.m. <br /> No public came forward to speak. <br /> Public Hearing-Closed - 8:01 <br /> The City Attorney noted no action on the proposed Ordinance or Resolution is needed at this time <br /> and will be on next meeting's agenda. <br /> 9. STAFF REPORTS <br /> A. Provide Direction to Staff Regarding the RemodellReconstruction of Fire Station No. 11, <br /> Located at Northeast Corner of Bay Road and Second Street <br /> - <br /> Fire Chief Montez reported on the current conditions of the existing firehouse and future needs, <br /> seismic compliance deadline of December I, 2000 of which if not completed, Redwood City will <br /> forfeit revenue from the County. Civil Engineer Lynch reported on the technical matters for the <br /> three proposed options and timelines. <br /> Fire Captain Anderson, Fire Fighters Association President listed potential problems with electrical, <br /> flooding, water damage, and sewer problems due to too low siting elevation. <br /> Deborah Nelson, Assistant City Manager reported staff's analysis determined that relocation and <br /> complete new fire station Option 3 is the best use of funds. She noted 22 months was required for <br /> building Station 20, therefore staff feels a new fire Station # 1 I can be completed if a decision is made <br /> by early March in order to make the County deadline. <br /> Maria Diaz, 438 Cedar St, stated she was one of the citizen petitioners to not loose this station to the <br /> County, and urged Council to bring this station up to modem efficiency and feels Option 3 is the best <br /> choice. <br /> Ed Baily, 3215 Page Street, stated he has been in this station many times and fixing it would just be a <br /> waste of taxpayer monies and the neighbors want a new station. <br /> - <br /> SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES BOOK NO. 57 NOVEMBER 23, 1998 <br /> MINUTES Page No. 211 PAGE 4 <br />
