5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Announcement from Redwood City Together Steering Committee regarding <br /> the Redwood City Together Initiative and their May 18, 2013 community event <br /> "One Community, Many Cultures" at the Courthouse Square and the History <br /> Museum - Cindy Marroquin, Coordinator and Bonnie Miller, Member of the Redwood <br /> City Together Steering Committee -Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre invited Ms. Marroquin to the podium who then provided details of <br /> Redwood City Together and their upcoming event. The event is to celebrate the <br /> diversity of the community and will include live entertainment, food tasting, and displays <br /> of youth art. <br /> B. Proclamations - Recognizing Martin Luther King Day of Service at Stulsaft <br /> Park Contributors -Acterra Stewardship Program - Claire Elliott, Senior Ecologist <br /> and Missy Pinney, Restoration Technician, Kaiser Permanente, San Mateo Area - <br /> Matthew Jacobs, Community and Government Relations Manager, and HandsOn Bay <br /> Area - Lou Reda, Executive Director, Tyson Durm, Senior Program Manager and Ben <br /> Heskett, Board Chair - Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre wanted to honor those who came together on the Day of Service to <br /> beautify one of our parks. She acknowledged those present and provided <br /> proclamations in recognition of all their efforts and hard work. Mayor Aguirre added that <br /> it was great to see the youth present and making a difference. <br /> C. Proclamation — Designating April 24, 2013 as Federation Day for All <br /> Federated Women's Clubs (GFWC) and Recognizing the Peninsula Hills Women's <br /> Club — recipient will be Judy Yoakum, President of the Peninsula Hills Women's Club - <br /> Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre thanked the Ms. Yokum, President of the Club, and all the other <br /> members present for their community work. Ms. Yokum provided details on the Club <br /> activities and explained they are a philanthropic organization. All the members present <br /> from the Peninsula Hills Club stood up in the audience and were recognized. <br /> D. Proclamation - Designating May 2013 as National Historic Preservation <br /> Month - Kenneth Rolandelli, Historic Resources Committee Chair - Alicia C. Aguirre, <br /> Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre welcomed Mr. Rolandelli, Chair of the Historic Resources Advisory <br /> Committee, and he provided details about all the events associated with this day. He <br /> enumerated all the organizations collaborating on these efforts. Mayor Aguirre noted <br /> that this community is all about giving and contributing and that is what makes it so rich <br /> and vibrant.
